Thomas Turner side by side under lever double-hammer Express rifle, .577/.500 cal., London and black powder proof barrels without ejectors, inscribed Thomas Turner, 19 Brook St., Bond St., London, with a one-leaf platinum-lined 200 yard express sight, a back action lock with a hammer safety, a moderately scroll engraved receiver, locks, hammer, trigger guard and tangs and a checkered English walnut pistol grip stock with a steel cap and a sling swivel attachment, serial #3980, 26" blackened barrels. The rifling in the blackened barrels is bright and crisp with the markers name and address on the barrels. Case colors have generally disappeared except under the under lever. The safeties retain some flame blue and the scroll engraving is sharp and deep. The pistol grip is checkered with a steel cap and there is 3/4" silver escutcheon behind the sling swivel attachment. The English walnut stock is dark with minor handling marks. The pull is 14 1/2" and the drop is 2 1/2". Very good condition.
