Richmond, Virginia model 1861 rifled musket, .58 caliber, 33" barrel.
Stamped on lock 1863, C.S. Richmond, VA, Type III. 1862 marked "humpbacked" lock has "CS" over "Richmond, VA" forward of the hammer. Bolster is fused to the UP over eagle marked barrel. The barrel and stock have been cut. The nosecap and buttplate are brass, and the barrel bonds and trigger guard are made of iron. Rear sight is a 3 leaf. The lock aperture does not have a channel for the Maynard tape primer.
