Philadelphia, Pennsylvania Queen Anne figured maple side chair, ca. 1745, attributed to William Savery, with a cupids bow crest and vasiform splat, over a period rush seat with scalloped skirt supported by chamfered cabriole front legs joined by boldly turned medial stretcher, terminating in crooked feet, retaining an excellent old dry surface. Two identical chairs bearing Savery labels are illustrated in Lindsey, Worldly Goods, fig. 149; and Sotheby's, January 16 and 17, 1999, lot 766. Provenance: David Stockwell, West Chester, Pennsylvania.
