J. H. Merrill, Baltimore 1st type saddle ring carbine, .54 caliber, the lock and breech cover stamped J. H. Merrill Balto, with simple brass patch box, trigger guard and folding rear sight, 22'' barrel. SN #4323
Very good blued lock and hammer, barrel turning with some pitting, receiver near hammer pitted, poor bore, stock shows heavy handling marks and has a 4'' crack from back of lock to upper tang, ''P'' carved into the stock above the saddle ring.
