Civil War model 1863 Norfolk contract rifle, .58 caliber, the walnut stock with W. W. Welch Norfolk CT stamped on the left flat, the barrel with VP eagle head proof, dated 1863, the lock with U.S. Norfolk - 1863, with spread wing eagle, US marked butt plate, a 1 in yellow paint on the trigger guard and folding rear sight, 40" barrel.
Overall very good condition, normal handling marks, all metal turning grey, pitting to barrel, crack from upper tang to lock.
