US Springfield model 1870 trapdoor rifle .50-70 caliber, with rear ladder sight and walnut stock, the lock inscribed US Springfield, with eagle dated 1863, the breech inscribed Model 1870, with eagle head, crossed arrows and US, 1427 on barrel next to sight, US marked butt plate, period leather sling, 22" barrel. Provenance: The Firearms & Militaria Collection of Robert Spangler Jr., West Chester, Pennsylvania.
Good overall condition as cut, all metal polished bright, good stock, R2 painted on comb, bright bore with strong rifling, stock and barrel have been cut.
