The Experience of Thomas H. Jones, Who Was a Slave for Forty-Three Years, Written by a Friend, As Related to Him by Brother Jones, printed by E. Anthony & Sons, New Bedford, Mass., 1871. Thomas H. Jones was born a slave near Wilmington, North Carolina in 1806 and lived in slavery until he escaped in 1849. He originally wrote his memoir to raise money to purchase his sons freedom. He became a prominent figure in the Colored Conventions Movement. 4 1/2" x 7 1/2".
