Smith Patent by Poultney & Trimble Civil War saddle ring carbine, .50 caliber, with walnut stock, folding rear sight, the receiver inscribed Manufactured by Am'N M'CH'N WKS Springfield, Mass., with Address Poultney & Trimble, Baltimore U. S. A., the barrel with LFR (Lafayette F. Rogers) inspector proof, JH (Joseph Hannis cartouche on left stock, as well as underside of forestock, 21" barrel. SN #3235
Overall very good condition, retains 70% blue, light handling marks to stock, very little rifling, lacking front sight, rear sight is loose at roll hinge, light pitting to right side of barrel, strong case colors to lock, bright blue on trigger guard and latch.
