Richmond, Virginia model 1861 rifled musket, .58 caliber, 40" barrel.
Stamped on lock 1862, C.S. Richmond, VA, Type II. Bright barrel. Numerous dent and vise marks near breech. Breech marked with UP over eagle and the letter H. Bolster fused to barrel and hammer has expected wear. The 1862 marked humpback lock has "CS" over faintly stamped Richmond mark on lock. The noscap is brass, however the buttplate is iron. The lock aperture does not have a channel for the maynard tape primer.
