Philadelphia Queen Anne walnut compass seat dining chair, ca. 1750, the shell carved crest with double volutes above a highly figured solid vasiform splat and compass seat supported by cabriole legs with shell and volute carved knees terminating in trifid feet. Provenance: Descended in the Scott family to the present owner. Another side chair, possibly from the same set as the present chair, was sold Sotheby's, January 19th, 2008, lot 109.

Condition

Metal braces added at crest and stile, small spline added to top of splat, upholstery has been removed, lacking seat lip, originally fitted with slip seat.
