Pennsylvania silk on linen needlework sampler, dated 1804, inscribed Mary Mathiot her pace (sic) made in the care of Mrs. Rachel Steigelman, with central scene of a young couple, the woman having human hair, centered by blocks of flowers and birds, with large schoolhouse below, and silk ribbon border, 23" x 22 3/4".
