Pennsylvania Chippendale walnut desk and bookcase, ca. 1765, the upper section with blind fretwork and dentil molding, above scallop panel doors, resting on a base with a fall front enclosing a fitted interior, with shell carved drawers with elaborate pierced brasses, above a case with four drawers and ogee bracket feet, 88 1/2'' h., 41'' w. Property sold with the approval of the trustees of the Philadelphia Museum of Art to benefit acquisition funds.
Top 1/2" thick element of side cornice replaced. Large baten added to interior of door. Original brasses. Large patch to rear side foot facing. Lacking pediment.
