Outstanding English brass candlestick, mid 16th c., with a round incised cup, above a double-baluster and ring turned shaft on a dished drop tray, above a circular spreading base with an auxiliary drip pan and incised ring decoration, 11 3/4'' h., together with a copy of Christopher Bangs The Lear Collection, A Study of Copper-Alloy Socket Candlesticks, A.D. 200-1700, Oaks Printing Company, Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, 1995. This candlestick is an exceptional example of the ''chalice and paten'' form. A similar stick was one of the highest priced lots sold at the Lear sale, Christie's, 1998, lot 53.

Condition

Repaired crack to lip of candlecup. 2" repair to base. Barely visible 1" long hairline on drip pan.
