Miles Walters(British, 1774-1849), oil on canvas of the Philadelphia ship, Electra, off the white cliffs of Dover, with 2 views of the ship showing both the starboard and the stern, signed lower right "Walters", 20" x 34". Provenance: Estate of Oliver Ireton Shoemaker.
Laid down on board. New stretcher (stretcher shadow). Relined. Full original canvas case (uncut on stretcher). Surface grime. A few flakes near stern. 3" repair to sky. A few other smaller touch-ups. Some minor dirt/wear and cracking on American flag. Provenance: descended in the family of the ship's captain George Robinson.
