Mid Atlantic, probably Virginia, painted hard pine and poplar blanket chest, late 18th c., retaining its original blue surface, the backboard dated 1767, the underside of the lid inscribed Hannah Fisher 1785, 28'' h., 47 1/2'' w. Provenance: Ted Maurer, Zionsville, Pennsylvania, September 28, 1985.
Condition
Losses to foot cutouts on left foot front, left foot side, right foot side. Losses to edge of right drawer. Losses to corner of left drawer frame. Interior ok. Hinges good. Brasses replaced. Losses to top left rear corner. Some splitting on right top side.
