Major General retired, Daniel Sickles signed typed correspondence, dated March 12, 1912, on Mary Todd Lincoln Memorial letterhead, addressed to Francis D. Tandy asking for co-operation with the Lincoln Fellowship, Daniel Sickles was an American politician, soldier and diplomat most notably known for the slaying of Philip Barton Key II (son of Francis Scott Key) of which he was acquitted after using temporary insanity as a defense for the first time, Sickles is also a Medal of Honor recipient, from his service at the Battle of Gettysburg, 10 3/4" x 8 3/8". Provenance: The Ephemera Collection of Joseph Rubinfine, Merritt Island, Florida.
