Lancaster County, Pennsylvania walnut blanket chest dated 1777, the lift lid with inlaid panel with central star cartouche, over a case with date and initials "IS", flanked by potted tulips, above 2 drawers supported by bracket feet, 30 1/2" h., 48" w. Illustrated in Fabian, The Pennsylvania German Decorated Chest, fig. 104. Provenance: Joe Kindig, Jr. & Son Antiques. Copies of letters referring to this piece accompany the lot.
Parts: Key and information/letter. Majority of feet replaced. Period brasses but not original.
