James Woodward & Sons side lever, side hammer Rook rifle, .300 cal., barrel inscribed James Woodward & Sons 300 on the left flat and 64 St. James St., London on the right flat, with a globe front sight, a two-leaf platinum-lined rear sight, a nicely engraved receiver, a period peep sight behind the tang and a checkered walnut pistol grip stock, serial #4465, 26" octagonal barrel. C&R The blue barrel shows some light surface rust along the flats. There is good rifling with some pitting to the bore. The lock bears the makers name and the receiver retains approximately 30% of case colors. The trigger guard retains 50% of original blue. The English walnut pistol grip stock has clear and defined checkering and is unblemished except for a few minor scratches to the butt stock. Fine condition.
