Cased J. Purdey side by side under lever double-barrel Express rifle, .450 cal., London and black powder proof damascus barrels, marked J.P. Purdey 314 ½ Oxford St. London, with a two-leaf 250 yard express sight, scroll engraved side locks with a hammer safety and a silver escutcheon at the wrist, serial #4610, 29" barrels. The 29", .450 bore Damascus barrels have good rifling. There is a small dent at the left muzzle and 1 1/2" of pitting near left muzzle. The locks, triggers, trigger guard, tangs, and butt plate are nicely scroll engraved and the action works smoothly. The straight English walnut stock is checkered at the wrist and has a 14 1/4" pull and 3 1/2" drop. There are two fore ends both with some chips of missing wood. The leather case contains cleaning materials and powder measures. Very good condition.
