James Reid Lambdin(American, 1807-1889), oil on canvas portrait of artist Russell Smith (1812-1896), signed lower left "JRL 1838", inscribed verso "Russell Smith Landscape Painter Painted by J.R. Lambdin", 20" x 17". This painting was executed in the year of Smith's marriage to Mary Priscilla Wilson and descended in the Smith family until purchased by the present owner in the early 1990's.
Modern frame. Good condition. No apparent touch-ups or repairs.
