Jacob Gay(American, active 1758-1787), engraved powder horn, with inscription "This Horn made at Fort Edward May 15, 1758. Samuel McNeill, I powder with my barother ball: most hero like doth Conquer all", flanking a cartouche with shell over a family crest, 11" l. This horn incorporates many of Gay's fanciful techniques including the use of faces, hearts, and decoration within some letters. Provenance: William Guthman.
