Intricate Pennsylvania watercolor and ink on paper fraktur, dated 1774, probably Lebanon County, with checkerboard tulips, elaborate stylized flowers, striped leaves and geometric designs, all arising from checkerboard pots and surrounding a center scalloped edge heart enclosing script, 12 1/2" x 16". A piece with similar motifs can be found in Pennsylvania German Fraktur of the Free Library of Philadelphia, plate 103.

Condition

Contemporary frame. Sporadic stains. Losses to edges and corners. Small sporadic holes. Toning. Not examined out of frame.
