American Revolutionary War era French model 1777 Maubeuge flintlock pistol, .69 caliber, the barrel stamped 80 and M1777 at tang, with brass frame and butt plate, inscribed Maubeuge below hammer, the walnut stock inscribed D 11 on the left grip, the right grip inscribed DD 66 and small DC inspector stamp, 7 1/2" barrel. These pistols were brought to the United States by Marquis de Lafayette and they were used extensively in the American Revolutionary War and the War of 1812. George C. Neumann's Battle Weapons of the American Revolution devotes an entire page to this weapon.

Condition

Overall very good condition, barrel turning brown, lacking ramrod, handling marks to stock.
