English or American silk on linen sampler, dated 1827, wrought by Jean Hamilton, with central verse above an open field of various floral stems and potted flowers, over a Georgian mansion with a green lawn flanked by stylized trees, all within a stylized floral border, 18" x 16".
Very light toning. Several light losses/small holes. Some bleeding to red. Probably Scottish. Otherwise in very nice condition.
