Eli Whitney model 1841 percussion musket rifle, .54 caliber, with a walnut stock, a brass patch box, a buttplate, and a trigger guard, the lock stamped E. Whitney US N. Haven 1852, the barrel tang stamped 1851, 33'' barrel.
Brass furniture including patch box, trigger guard have been polished and varnished. The stock has been refinished and there are no cartouches. There is a 1"x1/4" chip on the left side of the upper tang and a 3/8" diameter hole behind the upper tang. The upper tang is marked "851" and the barrel has "VP" over eagle and "WW" over "P" opposite the bolster. The lock is fully functional.
