Christopher Sauer, Germantown, printed gun wad Bible, 1776, Die ganze Gottliche Heilige Schrift Alten und Neuen Testaments…, two volumes printed in one, with Jacob Musselman family record and loose papers enclosed, scarce American edition of Luther’s German Bible, the first to be printed from American type. One of only 3000 copies printed of the so - called “Gun wad Bible,” most of which were destroyed during the Revolutionary War. Provenance: Purchased at auction in 2000 for the J. Stephen Fluck estate, Quakertown, Pennsylvania.
