Gentleman, I find my self necessitated to request of you two thousand and twenty five dollars and 5/9th of a dollar for Continental purposes, I am Gentleman with esteem your most humbled servant, also inscribed in lower left corner
Committee of Safety of New York, as well as same on verso, 6" x 7 3/4". Heath commanded the Massachusetts forces in the Battle of Lexington and Concord, participated in the defense of New York City and urged General Washington not to abandon the city, and saw action at Long Island, White Plains, and Harlem Heights.
