Anton Spellerberg, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania breech loading underhammer rifle, approximately .38 caliber, inscribed A. Spellerberg on the right side of the barrel flat, inscribed Patent July 30, 1861 on the left barrel flat, and inscribed 1 on the top of the breech, the walnut swan neck buttstock with a brass crescent buttplate, 22 1/8'' octagonal barrel with strong rifling. Illustrated in Herschel C. Logan, Underhammer Guns, figure 310 and 311.
Condition
Fully functional lock. Metal turning grey. Walnut stock in very good condition. Purchasers of firearms must comply with all state and federal regulations governing their purchase, registration and transportation.
