American School (19th c.), oil on canvas portrait, inscribed John Elliot the Apostle of the Indians, 37 1/4" x 30 3/4".
Crackled varnish surface. Sporadic small scuffs. Old relining. Period frame. 4" tear in background. A few small surface abrasions/flakes. Minor sporadic touch-up, mostly to upper right corner, approx. 10%. Provenance: NY Historic Society.
