Winslow Homer (American 1836-1910), gouache, pen, and ink on paper, titled Defense of the Baggage Train, initialed lower right and dated 1865, the reverse inscribed in two hands titling the work and presenting it to A.B. Homer, 9 1/2'' x 17 1/2''. Included in the catalogue of Homer's work compiled by Gerdts and Goodrich. A letter from Gerdts accompanies this lot. Provenance: Gavin Spanierman; Gerald Peters Gallery.
Very good untouched condition. Only some very minor toning and a few light foxing spots. Professional conservation framing.
