Westtown Boarding School silk on linen sampler dated 1839, initialed {RBM}, possibly executed in Burlington County, New Jersey. The present sampler is an unusual and possibly unique example showing a side view of the main Westtown building and additional embellishments of a man riding an ostrich, cheetah, reindeer, and sleigh which are not found on other examples. The style and coloring of the building, as well as the general layout, do have similarities with a group of Burlington County, New Jersey samplers. Illustrated in Ring, Girlhood Embroidery, fig. 432.
