US model 1879 trapdoor Springfield rifle, 45-70 caliber, with a SWP cartouche on the stock and a 32 5/8'' round barrel. Serial #168020.
Pitted bore. All metal has turned brown & has a light surface rust. The stock has a 1 x 1 1/2'' gouge out of the lower butt stock.
