Two New York continuous arm Windsor chairs, ca. 1800, retaining an old green painted surface, each chair retaining the original label inscribed Made by Henry Lock, 36 3/8" h. Provenance: Thurston Thatcher, Hamden, Connecticut; Private Collection, Ho-Ho-Kus, New Jersey. One chair with an arm support possibly replaced. Idiosyncratic difference to the arm supports on both chairs. The proper right arm of one cracked and repaired with a 19th century wrought-iron strap. Old cracks to proper left arm of each.
