Two James Madison signed vellum documents for George McCulloch, one is an appointment to Lieutenant in the Navy dated Dec. 9 1814, the other is an appointment as a sailing Master dated July 27 1813, largest - 18 3/8" x 13", together with a seven page document dated 24, Sep 1812, of a sworn statement of George B. McCullock, first pilot on the Marquis De Casa Yruso, in Prize Court Bahama Islands regarding the ship being captured by the private cutter Caledonia.
