The Mind Unveiled; Or: A Brief History Of Twenty-two Imbecile Children, first edition, published in Philadelphia by U. Hunt & Son, 1858, with one salt print photograph. Said to be the first photographically illustrated medical book published in the United States, inscribed in pencil on first page H. J. Brooke 3/6/87, From Grandma Brooke, also inscribed on last page Hugh J. Brooke, Media, Pennsylvania, bound in blue cloth with gilt spine and cover, gilt edges, 7 1/2" x 5 1/4". Hugh Jones Brooke was Vice President of the Pennsylvania Training School for Feeble Minded Children.

Condition

Salt print is loose in book, spine with minor loss, loose upper 2'', small crack to front board, corners lightly bumped, sporadic minor staining and foxing, binding tight.
