Steinway & Sons Model B Grand piano, serial #226542, case #C5176. Parts: key. Steinway Model B #226542 (1924) - Piano is in overall good condition with no serious defects or damage. The piano was re-strung at some point, but apparently retains its original action, hammers and pin-block. Though needing a tune, it is currently at concert pitch (A440). Hammer wear is fairly low with plenty of felt on treble hammers. Ivory key tops are in good condition with only a few minor cracks. Numerous cosmetic soundboard cracks which will not require repair. Several minor cracks in high treble and bass bridges (again not needing immediate repairs). Tone is even and acceptable, but could be improved by voicing or renewing hammers. Action could use regulation, though all keys play and the action is not sluggish. Pedals operate correctly. No defects noticed in case structure or plate. No insect or rodent damage noted. Right music desk slide incomplete, but functional. Keys are ivory.
