Steinway & Sons Model A small parlor grand piano #179383. The piano was commissioned in 1914 for Clara Anita (Dyer) Bradley by her husband Samuel McKee Bradley of Morehead, KY. After his death in 1945, Clara moved to Chester County, Pennsylvania, and bought a property in West Brandywine Township known as Brandywine Manor. The piano remained at Brandywine Manor until her death.
Condition
Dimensions: 38 1/2" h., 55 3/4" w., 76" l. The piano is structurally sound with no visible soundboard or bridge cracks. Cast iron plate is in good condition as are the felts and hammers. Piano may have been restrung at some point, as it has nickel-plated tuning pins and newer-looking bass strings. Light oxidation on steel strings. Hammers have low wear, as do the pedals. Original key tops have some hairline cracks. Piano is tuned to concert pitch (A440) and tuning pins are not loose, nor have they been treated for looseness. Damper felts are good. Action is not sluggish or sticking. Regulation is not perfect, but acceptable. Tone is good with a full bass tone and good treble with nice sustain.
