Stanley Massey Arthurs (American, 1877-1950), oil on canvas illustration titled "The Opening of the Grippe Season", signed lower right "S.M. Arthurs", 37" x 27". This was painted for the cover of Leslie's Magazine, Dec. 18 1913. A copy accompanies this lot. Provenance: Displayed at a Stanley Arthurs exhibition at the Delaware Art Museum, May 3 - June 16, 1974.
