Southern Chippendale walnut two part secretary, late 18th c., the broken arch bonnet with a swag inlaid frieze, above 2 glazed doors flanked by fluted quarter columns, resting on a base with inlaid fall front, above a single drawer and 2 cupboard doors supported by ogee bracket feet, 100" h., 43 3/4" w.
Egg and dart molding above dentil replaced. Several large patches to lid. Brasses replaced. 1/4 columns on upper section replaced. Back boards of lower section replaced. Lower case original, all drawers then modified with cup doors. Secondary woods are yellow pine and white pine.
