Somerset County, New Jersey Chippendale curly maple slant front desk, ca. 1790, made by Samuel Haines for his son Stephen, the fall front enclosing a fitted interior over a case with four drawers supported by bracket feet, 44" h., 43 1/4" w., A letter written by the son, Stephen in 1853, detailing the history of the desk accompanies this lot.
Brasses replaced. Sporadic worm damage, heaviest area is in top drawer. Feet repaired. New blocking.
