Soap Hollow, Pennsylvania painted poplar chest of drawers, dated 1871, signed by the maker Manufactured By John Sala, retaining its original untouched red surface with stenciled highlights, the sides with black painted recessed panels with date and initials LC, 58'' h., 38'' w. A Dutch cupboard, also by Sala and initialed LC, likely made for the same client, is illustrated in Charles Muller Soap Hollow The Furniture and its Makers, pg. 19.

Condition

Overall very good with only minor wear. One scallop repaired to backsplash.
