Soap Hollow, Pennsylvania painted blanket chest dated 1874 with typical diamond escutcheon with hash marks, flanked by floral sprigs, the initials "CW", the date, and pillars, above a potted tulip vine, all on a vibrant red background supported by floral decorated ebonized feet, 25 3/4" h., 44" w. Lacking escutcheon. Lock replaced. A couple repaired cracks to feet. Minor surface imperfections.
