Soap Hollow miniature painted blanket chest, dated 1868 and initialed SL, with stenciled floral decoration on a vibrant salmon ground, 15 1/2" h., 24" w. A similarly decorated chest is illustrated in Muller Soap Hollow, The Furniture and Its Makers, page 66. Provenance: Harry Hartman.
Hinges replaced with patches around hinges. 4" piece of side molding missing.
