Sioux Indian ledger art drawings and ephemera related to Dr. V. T. McGillycuddy, a surgeon and Indian Agent for the Pine Ridge Indian reservation, 5 3/4" x 5". McGillycuddy was the attending physician for Crazy Horse following his fatal stabbing and provided medical care for the survivors of the Wounded Knee Massacre. Included in this collection are his and his wife's business cards, the letter of permission to attend the survivors of Wounded Knee issued to him by General Wilson Miles, two excerpts from Frank Leslie's Illustrated Newspaper, an envelope sent by McGillycuddy with a ledger art Indian chief on verso, other telegraphs and communications involving McGillycuddy and newspaper clippings.
