Set of six Philadelphia carved mahogany balloon back dining chairs, late 19th c., consisting of two armchairs and four side chairs, each with a square back with a stepped crest above a splat with bellflower and foliate carving over a serpentine front seat supported by square tapering legs. Provenance: Woodmere Art Museum, Philadelphia, PA, proceeds to benefit the Charles Knox Smith Art Acquisition Fund.
Height of seat rim - 19 - 19 1/2". All chairs have plywood boards on underside of seat to hold springs in and some plywood is busted up. Minor repaired breaks and scuffs. Overall good condition with original surface.
