Set of 4 Philadelphia Chippendale mahogany dining chairs, ca. 1785, the carved and serpentine crest, over a pierced gothic splat, over a trapezoidal slip seat supported by squared beaded edge legs joined by H-stretchers, Provenance: Appleford residence, Bryn Mawr, Pennsylvania. Chair #1 - 1" patch to crest at splat, crest rail reattached, repair to one stile at crest, repairs to leg at seat rail, seat frame restored, crack to front leg at seat rail. Chair #2 - some minor cracks and repairs to crest and splat, seat frame restored. Chair #3 - repaired crack to crest rail above stile. Chair #4 - good condition, no apparent damages or repairs.
