Second Boer War carved kingwood dresser box, dated 1900, the heavily carved lid with coat of arms, above the inscription H. Rill P.O. War H. Wassman Diyatalawa, the interior with bust of a gentleman, 4 3/4" x 10 1/2". Diyatalawa is one of the oldest military garrisons in Sri Lanka and was first used as a training station for the British Army, ca. 1885. Provenance: The Estate of Charlene Sussel, Rockville, Maryland. Good condition. No apparent damages or repairs.
