Schuyler Colfax speaker of the House, Congress autograph book, dated July 1866, with approximately 172 signatures to include Thaddeus Stevens, James A. Garfield, Rutherford B. Hayes, etc., 5" x 8". Colfax was a founder of the Republican Party, during his first term as speaker he led the effort to pass the Thirteenth Amendment to the United States Constitution, which abolished slavery.
