Sailor's staved pine keg, 19th c., either end with a carved whalebone appliqué, one of a whale, the other a banner inscribed James Hale Maine 1845, the barrel retaining an old red surface, 7'' h., 7 1/4'' w. Provenance: The Collection of Frank and Sue Watkins, Richmond, Virginia.
Small nail holes at top of either end likely for a carrying strap. Otherwise good.
