Reading, Pennsylvania redware wall pocket, 19th c., impressed D.P. Shenfelder, Reading, Pennsylvania, with mask decoration and yellow glaze with green and brown splash, 10 3/4" h., 8 3/4" w. This is a rare use of redware by this potter and probably his finest work extant. Provenance: Sold at Pook & Pook, Inc., April 21, 2007, Lot 567, The Pioneer Americana Collection of Dr. and Mrs. Donald A. Shelley.

Condition

Small edge chip to back right edge and top left rear corner. Minor sporadic glaze flakes. Minor rim roughness. Overall very good condition.
